Tax structure note

Double Irish, explained.

Some brand pages flag a historical Double Irish tax arrangement. It is a structure note from public reporting — not live tax advice, and not a verdict on today’s products.

What it was

The Double Irish was a corporate tax structure that routed profits through Irish entities (often paired with other arrangements) to lower the effective tax rate on non-US income. Ireland closed the structure to new setups in 2015 and required existing users to unwind by the end of 2020.

Why EUROVA surfaces it

Shoppers and procurement teams sometimes ask about tax reputation alongside fines and certifications. Where our dataset has a clear historical marker, we show it on the brand page — the same way we surface EU fines as context, not as a boycott list.

How to read this signal

Treat it as historical context — not a ranking of who to avoid.

Do

Use it as a prompt to check current entity structure, filings, and vendor questionnaires when tax transparency matters.

Don’t

Don’t assume the brand still uses Double Irish — the structure was phased out, and products or ownership may have changed.

Do

Prefer clear EU contact points and published tax/ESG reporting over a single historical flag.
